hello & welcome

I have always had a love of words. One of my grade-school friends still tells the tale of trying to distract me from my books during the school reading competition. Much to her dismay, it didn’t work, but it does serve as an early testament to my focus and drive.

I pursued my love of language as a professional writing student at Michigan State University, where I honed my writing, editing, and design skills. This means I am a communicator—online, in print, and in person. It also means I enjoy tinkering with markup language almost as much as I enjoy marking up language.

whereabouts

I’m currently a postgraduate student in the Master of Digital Communication and Culture program at the University of Sydney. Before studying in Australia, I taught English at an international high school in northern Japan. Check out my portfolio and resume if you’d like to learn more about my work experience.

In my spare time, I write for beyondwords, a blog for professional writers, editors, and designers. I also drink a lot of fancy coffee, add to my bookshelves, and daydream about teleportation.

I love connecting with and staying in touch with people around the world, and that’s where technology really wins my eternal devotion. You can find me tweeting more than is probably healthy, plus I’m active on Tumblr and Facebook. Want to know more or say hello? Write to me.
